On the ground floor of Hotel Vestmannaeyjar, you’ll find the high-quality restaurant Einsi Kaldi where you can enjoy well-crafted and delicious seafood dishes in a cosy atmosphere. The owner of the restaurant is Einar Björn Árnason, or ‘Einsi Kaldi’. He is born and raised in the Westman Islands and strives to use his creativity and imagination in making outstanding seafood dishes and for that, he has earned himself a reputation for culinary perfection, as the reviews on TripAdvisor confirm. Einar gets fresh seafood from the towns’ boats daily and uses herbs picked on the island to ensure the freshest taste in all dishes. The restaurant recently started an exiting collaboration with The Brother Brewery, which is the first ever beer brewed in Westman’s Islands using local ingredients.
During summer Einsi Kaldi offers a diverse menu from lunchtime to evening every day of the week. At lunch, the focus is on light and fresh dishes such as soup and the fresh Icelandic fish. In the evening, variety is at foreground and you can choose from light appetisers to sumptuous meat and seafood dishes, something for all tastes. Einsi Kaldi is definitely an excellent choice if you are looking to spoil yourself with an overall high-end dining experience. The food is simply delicious and the service is friendly and personal.
Einsi Kaldi offers excellent meat and vegan options, but we have to recommend what they do best: seafood. Our favourite is the ’Under the Sea’ starter. It is an excellent way to start the meal as you’ll get a mix of delightful shellfish that is so fresh that you can almost taste the sea. You could also choose to go for one of their three-course set menus. Einsi Kaldi offers two choices, one with lamb as the main course, the other with beef tenderloin but both are equally mouth watering. The set menus are perfectly put together to make sure you’ll get to try the best food and produce that Westman Islands have to offer.
