Bláfjöll

Bláfjöll, or the Blue Mountains are a beautiful mountain range, located around 20 km from Reykjavík, or half an hour drive from the capital. The mountains are the most popular skiing venue of the people of the capital area as well as with tourists. It is especially known for its spectacular views and varied landscapes. The skiing area offers a range of excellent slopes for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowboards and is open when snow and weather permit. There is also a ski rental and a skiing school that offers instruction on weekends. When the ski resort at Bláfjöll is open, public transport goes directly to the resort.
