Hafaldan Old Hospital is located in the towns centre in the historic former hospital building. The building has been under constant renovation for the last years and is without a doubt one of Iceland’s most charming hostels with beautiful interior design and attention to details. The newest pride is the little basements “SPA” where guests can enjoy a sauna and relax after a busy day of sightseeing the Eastern Fjords. The hostel offers a variety of different rooms both with private and shared bathroom. It is ideal for families with different options in size and comfort, as well as for couples or friends groups and individual travellers who prefer the classic dorm bed. If you like to feel inspired by beautiful design, want to relax and recharge the batteries and have the chance to meet different people…. then the Old Hospital Hostel is your perfect spot in Seydisfjordur.
Hafaldan Harbour Hostel was established in 1975. Overlooking the fjord, it was built as a dormitory building for women working in the herring industry in the 1960’s. At that time four to six women stayed in each room that now is considered a small room for two. Thora Guðmundsdottir is the proud owner of Hafaldan and lives in her private apartment in one half of the hostel. The beautiful art collection in the living spaces and antique furniture in the rooms make this hostel very unique and cosy. The very best quality of this hostel is its view of the fjord from the dining room, it is both unforgettable & sometimes breathtaking. The hostel is overall colourful, authentic and homey with small, cosy but basic rooms. The hostel is ideal for those who seek a true fjord experience and like to meet different people and share experiences.
