Restaurant Reykjavík

Restaurant Reykjavík

Restaurant Reykjavík is an upscale restaurant, located in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. It stands in a beautiful building that has been a big part of Reykjavík’s history since the 19th century. It once served as a warehouse and an office for the sea post but over the years its role has alternated between warehouse, offices, nightclub, a café and more. The name was changed into Restaurant Reykjavík in 2012 and is today one of Reykjavík’s biggest restaurants.

Restaurant Reykjavík’s menu is focused on seafood although they also have a selection of meat and vegetarian dishes. The chefs strive to use the best produce Icelandic nature has to offer. Their seafood buffet is especially popular and acclaimed, offers an excellent variety and is great value for money. The buffet is served every day from 17:30. Restaurant Reykjavík also offers delicious group menus, each consisting of 3 courses, perfectly paired together to form a high-quality dining experience.

Restaurant Reykjavík is set in a beautiful and elegant setting and offers a professional and attentive service. The restaurant is big, however, it does not affect the ambience which remains welcoming and cosy. This, along with the fresh and tasty food, makes Restaurant Reykjavík an excellent choice for a hearty lunch or an ample dinner.

Reviews

This restaurant was highly recommended by a friend who had recently visited Reykjavik, so we ventured in for the lunchtime buffet. We were greeted by friendly staff who showed us the range of choices on offer, and we were sold. Stacks of salmon, ceviche salads, marinated herring, and vegetarian options including salads and a delicious mushroom vegetable soup. The restaurant itself is clean and comfortable and got very busy with tourists and locals. At ISK2200 per person, the buffet is excellent value as well!
