Disc Golf, or Frisbee Golf has become a very popular sport in Iceland. The explosion of the sport in the country saw the total count of ready-made courses jump from nine to nineteen in 2014 alone. The capital area currently hosts one full eighteen-hole course at Gufunes, and six nine-hole setups in locations as varied as Klambratún, Mosfellsbær, Laugardalur, Breiðholt, Víðistaðatún in Hafnarfjörður and, the most popular one – Fossvogur. The tournament circuit has now over 30 events planned for the season.

For those who are not sure of what Disc Golf is, it is a flying disc game, as well as a precision and accuracy sport, in which players throw a flying disc at a target. The object of the games is to traverse a course from beginning to end in the fewest number of throws of the disc, similar to golf.

It is an activity or sport that people of all ages can enjoy, especially on a nice summer day and the sport comes with a low price tag, both in terms of equipment and facilities, and is available to people of any age and gender year round
