Gerðuberg

Gerðuberg is an impressive and beautiful collection of basalt columns arranged in geometric shapes on the cliffs. They can be found on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. In the geological age Tertiary, the lava slowly began to consolidate into the pillars that can be seen today. The highest pillars are 14m high, 1- 1.5m wide and belong to the World Natural Heritage.

You can easily reach Gerðuberg from road 54, from there it is around 1km to a small parking lot. An old hiking trail leads past the pillars. So you can take a close look at this natural wonder.
