Langisandur

Langisandur beach is very well known and is located on the coast of the city of Akranes in western Iceland. The locals also like to stay here. It is around 1km long and is considered one of the best beaches in Iceland. There is a swimming club here, whose members meet several times a week to swim in the cold sea. Adventurous travelers are of course always welcome to join in. The beach is also popular with joggers and cyclists and is also an ideal place to let children play. Many species of birds can be found in the area surrounding the beach. Langisandur received the Blue Flag in 2013, among other things as an award for water quality, cleanliness and safety.
