Ölkelda

At the farm Ölkelda, near Staðarstaður, mid-way on the south side Snæfellsnes, there is a mineral spring with carbonated water. The word Ölkelda is actually very descriptive as öl means bubbling carbonated water and kelda means natural spring.

The water coming from Ölkelda is very nutritious and flows up from deep in the ground. The people at the farm Ölkelda has put up a faucet to make it easier for visitors to have a sip. We recommend taking a water bottle to fill up. The water might taste a bit strange as it is loaded with iron and researches show that it included many different minerals, making it especially healthy and is even said to have healing properties.
