Rauðisandur, or Red Beach is a 10 kilometre stretch of beach on the south coast of the West Fjords. It offers a spectacular view and countless numbers of seabirds and seals. Rauðisandur is a golden red sand beach in the Látrabjarg area and on sunny das, it is quite a sight to see as it scintillates like a shoreline covered in diamonds, however the sands are equally impressive on rainy days, constantly changing from red to yellow to white to red to black while Snæfellsjökull glacier imperiously rivets your attention in the background. It’s simply a beautiful beach enlivened by countless seabirds and seals, an oasis with unique tranquility where you can forget everything, except maybe getting the perfect photo shot.
